A. E. Brehm: La Vie Des Animaux Illustree, Description Populaire du Regne Animal: Les Oiseaux, J. B. Bailliere et Fils, 1872. These are from the "Birds" volume of a multi volume set on animals. The text is mostly in French, and I have done minimal (and possibly wrong or misleading) translating. I show the images with the original sepia toned effect which came through on the scans, as well as versions I have cleaned up a bit.
