Retold in verse.
Well, the verse isn't that great, truth be told, but it is an interesting old book that is not that common to see.
I have reproduced the full text for those who want to read the rhyming fairy tale that goes with these pictures.
But the dainty slipper fitted
In the days that are forgotten,
But she had two ugly sisters
Every day she cooked the breakfast,
She was dirty as the cinders,
She was hard at work one morning
And that night the little maiden
Off they went, the ugly sisters,
There she sat, all sad and lonely,
Suddenly she saw the candle
“Run and fetch a great big pumpkin
“And for horses, - that is easy.
