Carte de l'Afrique
Finely detailed, very delicate to look at, and very light-almost too light to make out some details. Lightly colored borders, and a wide view - part of Brazil is showing to the west. Very little detail in the interior, as Brue was less given to fanciful elaboration on conjecture than others. Brue has a very distinctive style, and is one of my favorite mapmakers. As with other French cartographers of the 19th century, his prime meridian almost always, if not always, ran through Paris, slightly to the east of what was then already becoming the standard Greenwich prime meridian.
