The Adirondack; or Life in the Woods
Written after a pair of trips north in the 1840’s, this book sold very well and promoted interest in the Adirondacks as an unspoiled wilderness and a potential health and recreational retreat. The plates are all nice small black and white scenes of lakes and mountains. They are very detailed and well rendered. The copies I have are a bit spotted, especially the first which is the frontis. Most I have been able to clean up, although the frontis may be too stained and I will post it as is.
Plates attributed to "Inghan" and "Burt" - exact artistry unclear.
